3/25/2021 - Tax Collector Reminds Residents of Deferred Property Taxes Due January 1 and payable through April 1

You may pay your deferment eligible property taxes that became due on January 1, 2021 without interest or penalty through April 1, 2021.  After April 1st, as mandated by CT General Statutes, interest will accrue at 1.5% per month retroactive to the original due date of January 1, 2021. This means that on April 2nd all unpaid accounts will be subject to a 6% interest charge (1.5% for each of the months of January through April). Under CT State Law, the Tax Collector cannot waive interest.  Please be advised that People’s Bank is unable to accept payments at their branch location for this deferment during the 60 day extension of February 2nd to April 1st.  We apologize for any inconvenience.
