Special Operations

Special Operations or "SPECOPS" refers to those situations that endanger life and require specially trained personnel and equipment to mitigate. In the Fairfield Fire Department, "SPECOPS" is divided by discipline into two distinctive sections: (a) Hazardous Materials Team and (b) Advanced Technical Rescue.

Members assigned to these specialty units are required to complete extensive training and must constantly refresh their skills due to changing hazards and new technologies.

Advanced Technical

Responsible for planning, training and organizing confined space, trench rescue, high angle rope and building collapse rescue techniques in accordance with Fairfield Fire Department rescue capabilities and OSHA requirements for operational and technician personnel.
