First Selectman Mike Tetreau wishes to remind the public that the Fairfield Sidewalk Sale & Street Fair will take place on Saturday, July 23, 2016 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., rain or shine. Select merchants will offer advance sales of discount merchandise beginning on Thursday, July 21st.
Over 75 vendors are expected to participate in Fairfield Center, setting up stands and offering a variety of merchandise for sales along the Post Road from the Heritage Square Shopping Center to the Promenade at the Brick Walk. Admission to the event, which is being co-sponsored by the Town of Fairfield and the Fairfield Chamber of Commerce, is free.
Sherman Green will feature activities for children and families, including an inflatable bounce house, face painting by Marcia Patterson of “Put On a Happy Face” and balloon artistry by Robbie’s Pack. Activities will also include a visit by “BB”, the Bluefish Mascot, and “McGruff”, the Crime Dog. Members of the Fairfield Teen Theatre Company will also be presenting a preview of their upcoming stage production of “Catch Me if You Can.”
This year’s event will feature live musical entertainment at multiple venues scattered throughout the downtown. Musicians will be playing at various times from 11 am to 3 pm at venues set up at the Brick Walk, at Sherman Green, at Heritage Square in front of the Community Theater, and near Lion’s Paw & Company, located at 1552 Post Road.
Bankwell will be offering a special raffle drawing every half-hour with the winner having 30 seconds to grab as much cash as possible in their “Money Machine” booth on Sherman Green. The equivalent of the money collected will be put into a Bankwell savings account, with a minimum of $25 and maximum of $50 to be deposited into the account.
Take a break from shopping and enjoy lunch at one of several participating restaurants downtown including Bodega Taco Bar as well as Flipside Burgers & Bar, where at Flipside, mention of “Sidewalk Sale” will net diners 15% off their tab during the day of the sale, not including Happy Hour. Taberna, located in the Brickwalk at 1229 Post Road, is offering a half-price lunch menu as well as “grab and go” options.
First Selectman Tetreau said, “I encourage everyone to come and be a part of this fun-filled event, which includes live musical entertainment at various venues within the downtown, special menu offerings at our many fine participating restaurants, and activities for children and families.”
