First Selectman Mike Tetreau announced today that the Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that a milling and resurfacing project will be performed on Route 59 & State Route (SR) 726 in Fairfield and Easton. This project is scheduled to take place from Sunday, May 22, 2016 through Saturday, June 4, 2016.
The project consists of milling and resurfacing of 2.24 miles of Route 59 in Fairfield/Easton and .10 miles of SR 726 in Fairfield. The milling segment of this project is anticipated to take place from Sunday, May 22, 2016 through Thursday, May 26, 2016. The resurfacing segment of this project is anticipated to take place from Tuesday, May 31, 2016 through Saturday, June 4, 2016.
Motorists can expect lane closures on Route 59 from SR 726 (Jefferson St) to Old Oak Road in Easton and on SR 726 (Jefferson Street) from Route 59 (Easton Turnpike) to End State Maintenance (the Salt Storage Building off Jefferson Street). Traffic control personnel and signing patterns will be utilized to guide motorists through the work zone. The regular work schedule for this project is 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. This project affects only the most northerly section of Route 59 in Fairfield—most of the work is being performed in Easton.
No work will occur during Memorial Day weekend—Friday, May 27, 2016 through Monday, May 30, 2016. Work will resume on Tuesday night May 31, 2016.
Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions. Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this vicinity.
This project is included in the Department of Transportation’s 2016 Vendor Resurfacing Program.
