Fairfield, CT – January 13, 2014 – Ms. Terry Giegengack, Director of
Human and Social Services announced today that Bernadette Plescia, RN
from Celebrate Me Home CT, will host a one hour journaling session at
the Fairfield Senior Center 100 Mona Terrace, Fairfield, CT 06824 on

The idea of journaling is designed to encourage sharing, reflection
and documentation of a loved one’s unique life story. The purpose of
this program is to encourage seniors to document important events,
feelings, history and fond memories that can be shared for generations,
either through words, drawings or collage.
Celebrate Me Home will supply journals and ask a few questions
designed to engage and encourage discussion, jog memories and spur
creativity. Some sample questions include:
In your lifetime, what has brought you the most joy? What are among
your simplest pleasures? What do you want to make sure that your
children or grandchildren or great grandchildren know about you?
There are documented benefits to this program including: Past
participants report they felt: joy through reminiscing, a sense of well
being through sharing and group discussion, and a way to open up
conversation with family on how they would like to be remembered.
