First Selectman Mike Tetreau announced today that the Fairfield Board of Selectmen is extending the deadline for nominations for the 16th annual Employee and Fairfielder of the Year Awards to noon on Friday, November 22, 2019.
Any member of the public, including town and school employees, can submit nominations for either or both awards. Nomination criteria, lists of previous winners and nomination forms can be found at fairfieldct.org/bosawards or by contacting the First Selectman’s Office at 203-256-3030. Please note that nominations can be submitted online.
The Board of Selectmen is tentatively scheduled to present the awards at its Wednesday, December 18, 2019 meeting to two outstanding individuals—one Fairfield resident and one Town employee. The winners’ names will be added to a plaque which lists the names of all previous winners and the year they received their award. The plaque hangs in the entryway of Independence Hall on the Burr Homestead side.
First Selectman Tetreau stated, “There’s no better way to start the holiday season than to honor members of our community who go above and beyond to make a positive difference for Fairfield. These awards are a popular and rewarding town tradition and are a wonderful opportunity to recognize so many talented and devoted residents and employees.”
