12/1/2014 - Fairfield Community Encouraged to Perform Acts of Kindess in Remembrance of Sandy Hook Anniversary

First Selectman Mike Tetreau announced today that the Town of Fairfield calls upon the Fairfield community to perform Acts of Kindness on and around the anniversary of Sandy Hook which is Sunday, December 14, 2014. The call for kindness is to honor those who lost their lives at Sandy Hook Elementary School on December 14, 2012.

The Fairfield community is encouraged to post their Acts of Kindness on the Town of Fairfield’s Facebook page, www.facebook.com/fairfieldct. Fairfield can also help memorialize our Sandy Hook neighbors in the following ways:

• Share on the Town’s Facebook page a local organization you donated to or volunteered at;
• Donate to the Town’s Social Services Holiday Gift Giving Program which helps Fairfield families struggling with basic needs by calling 254-4538; or
• Spend time with family, friends or neighbors on Sunday, December 14, 2014 to reflect upon making our future better and moving forward toward positive change.

First Selectman Tetreau said, “The Town of Fairfield continues to unite with Newtown and show our community’s strong support and solidarity by encouraging residents to perform Acts of Kindness. In support of our neighbors in Newtown, we encourage the Fairfield Community to spread goodwill to one another so that together, we can each make a difference in moving toward positive change.”

The photo shows First Selectman Mike Tetreau and Human and Social Services Director Teresa Giegengack discussing one example of an Act of Kindness, the annual Town of Fairfield Department of Social Services’ holiday program that encourages donations that are given to Fairfield residents in need. Anyone interested in donating for the holidays this year can contact Alicia Condon, Social Worker, at 203-254-4538 or acondon@town.fairfield.ct.us.

The gift distribution is set for the second week in December.
