The Town of Fairfield, in conjunction with the current Town-wide property revaluation for the Grand List of October 1, 2015, is holding a total of ten neighborhood informational presentations at various locations throughout Town. The neighborhood information presentations will occur in two sets of five meetings during 2014 and 2015. The second among the series of informational gatherings will take place at 7 p.m. on Thursday, November 6, 2014 at Fairfield Warde High School’s Auditorium, 755 Melville Avenue.
The agenda for the first round of meetings will include a discussion on the five phases of the revaluation and what will occur during each stage of the project. The topics discussed are the data collection phase and the “hows” and “whys” of each property visit, the Market Analysis phase, the Valuation phase, the Field Review phase, and finally the Hearings Phase.
The agenda for the second round of meetings, which begin in June, 2015, will involve discussion on a review of the trend of the Town’s neighborhood’s values since the revaluation of 2010 to the current date.
The goal of the first phase of presentations is to give property owners a clearer understanding of the steps necessary to perform a revaluation and inform property owners what they can do to ensure the Assessor’s Office records on their property is accurate and correct.
Individual property values will not be discussed at these meetings. New property values will be announced during November 2015. Any property owner wishing to discuss their current values may contact the Assessor’s Office for an appointment.
The dates and times of the neighborhood gatherings will be posted on the Town Meetings Calendar (http://www.fairfieldct.org/townmeetings).
