First Selectman Mike Tetreau announced today that “A Conversation in Kindness” will be held at the home of Fairfield PTA Council President Carolyn Trabuco on Thursday, October 25, 2018, from 5:30 pm-7:00 pm.
The event will be hosted by Fairfield resident and PTA Council member Veronica Mollica who spearheaded The Kindness Solution and is a founding member of World Kindness USA. Michael Lloyd-White, Chief Advisor to the Board of World Kindness USA, will be in attendance to discuss how Fairfield can create a kinder world and serve as a model for others in that endeavor. First Selectman Michael Tetreau, who is the Guest of Honor, will also be making remarks. PTA members, students, teachers and members of the community have been invited.
As Mrs. Mollica explains, “First Selectman Tetreau has been a huge supporter of our “Kindness Matters” initiatives since we launched our Kindness Committee at North Stratfield Elementary School in 2012. At that time, First Selectman Tetreau issued a Town Proclamation declaring Random Acts of Kindness Week.” Mrs. Mollica continued, “We can all learn together what each of us can do to help Fairfield be recognized as a ‘World Kindness Community'. We can seek to place kindness on the agendas of our local government, schools, corporations, small businesses, retail outlets, non-profits, and, of course, our families.”
PTAC President Carolyn Trabuco said, "Kindness is simple, deep and lasting. Our Town's PTAs have actively incorporated kindness into their programs and advocacy. The PTA Council is delighted to connect with the World Kindness Platform to learn how Fairfield could participate in an even broader campaign."
First Selectman Tetreau stated, “It’s always important to treat others with kindness and respect. I applaud Veronica Mollica for all her efforts in spreading kindness throughout our community. I also want to thank the PTA Council and its President for all of their hard work on this important initiative as well as their steadfast commitment in supporting and advocating for all of our students, parents and teachers.”
About Us: World Kindness USA was launched last year and is a platform for National collaboration, based on a foundation of kindness designed to encourage and support all sectors of our communities to engage in this global campaign. The time is now to join the campaign for a kinder world that welcomes everyone regardless of tribe, race, religion, gender, politics, age, sexual preference and/or zip codes.
The Kindness Solution is a community movement and platform that believes that kindness is the solution to every challenge we face individually and collectively. We share ideas and resources on how to proactively look for ways to uplift and encourage each other at home, school, online, and in our workplaces and communities.
The Fairfield PTA Council (PTAC) is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit association that prides itself on being a powerful voice for all children, a relevant resource for families and communities, and a strong advocate for public education. PTAC strives to unify the 18 separate PTA school units in our town to best understand and meet their needs. Our community is comprised of 11 Elementary schools, 3 Middle schools, 3 High schools and an Early Childhood Center.
By teaching Kindness Matters in our schools, we are helping our children build a foundational skill that will enrich, not only their own lives, but make a positive impact on their communities and the world. When we encourage children to accept and support each other, they experience firsthand the profound power and impact of their thoughts, words, and actions. In this way, we create an environment based on inclusion and acceptance where children feel inspired to express themselves and live authentically. By teaching age appropriate themes of self-love, empathy, and cooperation throughout Elementary, Middle, and High School, our goal is to send our children into the world with the operating principle of looking at every aspect of their lives through the lens of kindness.
