The Fairfield Town Plan and Zoning Department, in partnership with the Fairfield Flood and Erosion Control Board, invites community members to attend a public meeting concerning sea level rise and its impacts on Fairfield and Long Island Sound on Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at 7:00 pm at Penfield Pavilion, 323 Fairfield Beach Road. The meeting is part of the Plan and Zoning Commission’s outreach efforts in updating the Plan of Conservation and Development (POCD). A presentation titled “Climate Change in Connecticut and Long Island Sound – Impacts and Adaptation” by Juliana Barrett from Connecticut Sea Grant will be provided and followed by an interactive group discussion. The meeting is expected to conclude by 9:00 p.m.
The Plan and Zoning Commission and Department staff will schedule future POCD meetings in the coming months on topics such as transit-oriented development, open space and conservation, infrastructure, housing, and economic development as required by state statute. Community members are encouraged to participate in this community-wide process. Additional information will be provided as new meetings are scheduled.
