First Selectman Mike Tetreau announced today that the Connecticut Department of Transportation (DOT) will begin milling from lower Black Rock Turnpike (between Route 58 near Judd Street to the traffic circle on Route 1 near Castle Avenue), on or about Tuesday, August 19, 2014. Work will be performed from 8 pm to 5 am so traffic is not disrupted during the day. Milling work is expected to last two or three nights, weather permitting.
On or around Monday, September 8, 2014, DOT will then pave this lower portion of Black Rock Turnpike. Paving will be performed from 8 pm to 5 am due to high volumes of traffic during the day and school being open. Paving is expected to last three nights, weather permitting.
The public can expect alternating traffic or minor detours during construction.
For more information or questions, the public may contact Joe Palestra from the DOT at 203-536-2814 (cell) or 203-380-3836 (work).
