First Selectman Mike Tetreau announced today that due to the weather forecast predicted for Friday, July 4, 2014, the Town of Fairfield’s Parks and Recreation Department has postponed the fireworks to Saturday, July 5, 2014. In case of inclement weather on Saturday, please call 203-256-3144 or go to www.fairfieldct.org/fireworks.
The fireworks will begin just after dark around 9:15 PM from a barge off of Long Island Sound so the show can be seen easily from Penfield and Jennings Beaches. The warm-up band for the big show, The Atwood Express Oldies Band, is unable to perform on Saturday, July 5, 2014.
According to the Parks and Recreation fireworks web page, www.fairfieldct.org/fireworks, there is limited parking. Beach parking lots can be accessed either with a Season Beach Pass or by purchasing a Daily Pass for $50.00 per vehicle (cash only). Daily Passes will be limited to the first 300 vehicles at Jennings Beach and 100 vehicles at Penfield Beach. A Daily parking fee will also be charged to park at Ash Creek Parking Lot the day of the fireworks. The Parks and Recreation Department suggests the public plan on arriving early. The Department also reminds the public that alcoholic beverages are not permitted on Town beaches and the public is not permitted to bring their own grills.
First Selectman Tetreau said, “Come celebrate Fairfield’s 375th anniversary by attending Saturday’s fireworks show! I wish every member of our community a happy and safe 4th of July weekend. I also remind the public to stop by Fairfield’s Family Fun Fest on the historic Town Green on Saturday, July 5 from 10-4 pm.” For more information on the Fun Fest, please go to www.fairfieldct.org/funfest.
