First Selectman Mike Tetreau wishes to remind the public that the Fairfield Sidewalk Sale & Street Fair will take place on Saturday, July 22, 2017 from 10:00am to 4:00pm, rain or shine. Select merchants will offer advance sales of discount merchandise beginning on Thursday, July 20th.
Over 75 vendors are expected to participate in Fairfield Center, setting up stands and offering a variety of merchandise for sales along the Post Road from the Heritage Square Shopping Center to the Promenade at the Brick Walk. Admission to the event, which is being co-sponsored by the Town of Fairfield and the Fairfield Chamber of Commerce, is free.
Sherman Green will feature activities for children and families, including an inflatable bounce house, face painting by Marcia Patterson of “Put On a Happy Face” and balloon artistry by Robbie’s Pack. Members of the Fairfield Teen Theatre Company will also be presenting at 11am a preview of their upcoming stage production of “The Addams Family.” Double Up Dance Studio will be showcasing Hip-Hop and rhythm techniques with two interactive 20-minute sets in the afternoon.
This year’s event will feature live musical entertainment at multiple venues scattered throughout the downtown. Musicians will be playing at various times from 11am to 3pm at venues set up at the Brick Walk, Sherman Green, Heritage Square, in front of the Community Theater, and near Lion’s Paw & Company, located at 1552 Post Road.
Bankwell will be offering several raffle drawings each hour with the winner having 30 seconds to grab as much cash as possible in their “Money Machine” booth on Sherman Green. The equivalent of the money collected will be put into a Bankwell savings account, with a minimum of $25 and maximum of $75 to be deposited into the account.
Take a break from shopping and enjoy lunch at one of several participating restaurants downtown including the Old Post Tavern, where it’s “buy one, get one” on house wines, house liquor and draft and bottled beer plus $5 flatbreads and $1 sliders, and at b Fairfield, which is featuring a special lighter lunch menu offering. At Freshii, diners can buy one/get one lunch entrée at 50% off during the event on Saturday while at Flipside Burgers & Bar, pitchers and glasses of sangria are 25% off. B-Good is offering $5 beer & wine and in-house samples.
