Did you help people who were hurt by Hurricane Sandy or did you do work in/on coastal properties damaged by Hurricane Sandy?
The Center for Indoor Environments and Health at the UCONN
Health Center would like to learn about your Hurricane Sandy experience,
especially about hazards you may have faced and how you protected
yourself from becoming ill after your response and clean-up work. We
want to know about what training you may have had, what information
about mold exposure you may know, what you used to prepare for and
protect yourself while working.
We would like to talk with you about participating in a focus
group. The focus group will be an opportunity for a group discussion
where we will ask about your experience and listen to your opinions. We expect each meeting to take no more than one hour and a half (90 minutes). The meetings will be held at a convenient location in Fairfield. To thank you, each person who attends a focus group will receive a $20 Home Depot gift card.
Currently the date we are looking at for the focus group is Thursday, June 26th in either the afternoon or early evening (or potentially both if enough interest)
This information will be used to help UCONN develop trainings and
guidance to protect workers, volunteers, home owners and renters who
have to enter properties after hurricanes have damaged them. (The
effort is supported by a cooperative agreement 1U01OH010627-01 from the
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s National Institute for
Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH). This description is solely the
responsibility of the authors and do not necessarily represent the
official views of NIOSH.)
