4/18/2017 - Town and Chamber Announce Details on Upcoming Shop & Stroll Into Spring Event

First Selectman Mike Tetreau announced today additional details regarding the upcoming Shop & Stroll Into Spring event on Thursday, April 27, 2017, and invites the public to take part. The event is being hosted by the Town of Fairfield and the Fairfield Chamber of Commerce.

Participating shops in downtown Fairfield will stay open late and will offer patrons complimentary hors d’oeuvres and seasonal refreshments from 5 pm to 9 pm. Several downtown restaurants will also be offering drink and small bite specials throughout the evening. For a list of participating shops and restaurants, please visit the event website at www.fairfieldct.org/shopnstroll. The website is being updated regularly.

This year local merchants are partnering with Operation Hope, a community non-profit organization that provides shelter, food pantry, affordable housing and other services to those struggling with homelessness and food insecurity. Participating merchants will be collecting non-perishable and monetary donations and making donations of their own to support Operation Hope’s critical, life-sustaining work.

“Last year, over 1,600 households visited our Food Pantry, and sadly that number continues to rise," said Carla Miklos, Executive Director of Operation Hope. "The support and generosity of the Town, local merchants and the public during this popular community event will help ensure that we can continue to provide meals for our neighbors in need. We thank everyone who participates and plays a role in ending hunger and homelessness here at home in Fairfield.”

“The annual Shop & Stroll is a great opportunity to celebrate the arrival of spring, support our local businesses and enjoy a fun night out with family and friends as well as support a great cause,” said First Selectman Mike Tetreau.

Shoppers can also enter a special drawing at participating downtown stores for a chance to win a Fairfield shopping spree and other great prizes. No purchase is necessary to enter the drawing.

Beverly Balaz, President of the Fairfield Chamber of Commerce added, “The Chamber of Commerce is happy to be partnering with the Town on this event as it provides our merchants another opportunity to open their doors to the community, meet new customers from surrounding towns and provide a wonderful shopping experience!” “At the same time, we hope the event helps raise awareness and funds for the important work that Operation Hope is doing to support those in need, “ she added.

The public is invited to visit the event website at www.fairfieldct.org/shopnstroll for further information on participating retailers, restaurants and special offers.
