5/13/2014 - Introduction Letter

Hello everyone,

I look forward to meeting all of you this season. I’ll be at the marina and beach weekends from Memorial day through Labor day. My office will be in the first floor of the Marine patrol building. If you have any questions or concerns I’d be happy to speak with you. My goal as the Marina Coordinator is to ensure that everyone is having a good experience at the town facilities.

To tell you a little about myself, I’m married with two children, 44 years old and a lifelong boater and watersports enthusiast. I grew up boating in Milford, CT and have worked at marinas all over New England since I was 14 years old. In college I raced two man dinghies as well as J-24’s along with some big boat racing. For the last 25 yrs. I’ve been working at large full service yards doing both operations and billable work to everything from runabouts to high end race boats. I was most recently at Essex Boat Works and before that at Brewer Yacht Haven in Stamford up until its demise. I now have a short commute from Stratford which I mostly make on my motorcycle.

Upon my arrival I began compiling a list of issues to be addressed and I’ve been taking advantage of the new work order request system. Here is a brief list of some problems already corrected; replacing all of the fire extinguisher cabinets and extinguishers, replacing missing dock carts, installing six absent storage racks at Jennings beach, repairing all of the broken frog hooks at the marina, removal of all abandoned catamarans along skatepark fence as well as boats in the trailer storage area. I will continue addressing your concerns as well as my own. I also have a few potentially huge improvements I’m working on. I’ll keep you updated.

I’ll see you this summer.
