High Blood Pressure Part 1

Eymy Chacon – RN, Nurse Practitioner Student at Fairfield U

What does having high blood pressure (BP) really mean? Can anything actually happen if I feel fine and have been diagnosed with high blood pressure? Does certain food affect my BP? These are all excellent questions!  Eymy Chacon will be discussing high blood pressure and its effects on our bodies in a presentation in February and March 2017. The presentation will include the importance of BP management, pathophysiology of BP, diseases linked to high BP, foods affecting BP and what an acceptable BP actually is for different age ranges. It is suggested that participants attend each of the information sessions in order to maximize their knowledge of BP management. There will be light refreshments and a raffle for participants with a brief survey at the beginning and end of each presentation.

The Chronic Disease and Diabetes Support Group is held the second Tuesday of each month, September- June, from 1-2 PM at the Fairfield Senior Center, Room 14. Pre-registration is not required and the program is free. If the Fairfield Public Schools are closed or delayed due to bad weather, the Senior Center will be closed and programs will be cancelled. Please call 203-256-3150 for further information about this program, which is sponsored by the Town of Fairfield Health Department in collaboration with the Fairfield Senior Center.
