State of Connecticut Firefighter Testing Consortium

A career in the fire service is challenging and rewarding.  Generally every two years, Fairfield joins with multiple fire agencies within the state of Connecticut area to establish eligibility lists for the position of Firefighter. These departments test as a Consortium and one application grants you the ability to apply to all departments. Each department may have different requirements for their applicants. In order to be considered for each agency you must comply with their particular requirements.

The minimum qualifications for an applicant taking the Firefighter's Exam include a $145 non-refundable application fee, U.S. citizenship or legal authorization to work in the United States, a high school diploma or equivalent (GED), and a valid driver's license. The Fairfield Fire Department requires the candidate to hold a State of Connecticut EMT license to be considered for list ranking and a Candidate Physical Agility Test (CPAT) certificate issued no more than 2 years prior to the time of employment.
