3/12/2019 - Town Welcomes Aurora's to Vibrant Restaurant Scene

The Town of Fairfield’s Office of Community & Economic Development is pleased to announce the opening of Aurora’s located at 1603 Post Road in Fairfield.  First Selectman Mike Tetreau, Fairfield Director of Economic Development Mark Barnhart and Fairfield Chamber of Commerce President Beverly Balaz joined family, friends and other invited guests to celebrate the restaurant’s official grand opening with a ribbon cutting ceremony on Friday, March 1.

Aurora’s, which was formerly Café Madeline, is owned by Fairfield residents Lauren & Byron Orellana, who named the restaurant after their daughter.  The restaurant offers Mediterranean-inspired cuisine in a casual, intimate setting. Café Madeline regulars will recognize many menu items, but Lauren and Byron have introduced new seafood dishes, lighter fare and vegetarian options.  The chef and service staff has remained intact through the ownership change.

For Fairfield native Lauren, who has worked in the food service industry her entire adult life, owning her own restaurant has been a long-standing dream.  The couple first met while working in a local restaurant, and has been contemplating venturing forth on their own for some time.  “We came close to buying another restaurant not too ago, but it was not to be,” stated Lauren.  “Fortunately, this opportunity came up, and we couldn’t be happier, so it all worked out in the end,” she added.

Community & Economic Development Director Mark Barnhart stated, “We are thrilled to have Aurora’s join our vibrant and growing Fairfield business community and restaurant scene.  Small businesses like this have long been the backbone of our local economy, and we wish Lauren and Byron much success in their new business venture.”

Aurora’s is open five days a week for lunch and dinner, and Sundays for dinner only.  Hours are typically 11:30AM to 3:00PM for lunch and 4:30PM to 10:00PM for dinner service.  The restaurant is closed Mondays.  For more information or to book a reservation, call (203) 259-5800 or visit their Facebook page at
