79th Annual Fairfield Tennis Championships - 2018

Tournament Rules:
1. ELIGIBILITY: Participants must be a Fairfield Town resident or Fairfield Tennis Center member. Players must be 18 by January 1, 2018. If questioned regarding eligibility, the burden of proof rests with the entrant.
2. CATEGORIES: Sign up for each category you wish to enter. A separate entry form must be filled out completely for each category. Categories include:

Players entering multiple categories may be required to play back-to-back matches. A category with less than eight (8) entries may be combined and/or eliminated. Fees paid for an eliminated category will be refunded. Additional categories may be added at the discretion of the tennis committee.
3. ENTRY: Entry forms will be available starting May 1st at the Fairfield Tennis Center on Old Dam Road and at the Fairfield Recreation Department. Completed entries must be dropped off at the Fairfield Tennis Center. Please PRINT your telephone number, Cellphone number and e-mail address clearly. Incomplete or illegible entries will not be accepted. Entries close at 5:00 PM on Saturday, June 2, 2018. Draws will be posted by Wednesday, June 6, 2018.
4. ENTRY FEES: Fees will be $20.00 for singles and $35.00 per doubles teams. The full fee and name of each doubles partner is required to register a doubles team. Full payment by check or cash must accompany all entries. Non-Tennis Center members will pay a discounted court fee for each tournament match played.

6. WHERE: Tournament will take place at the Fairfield Tennis Center, Old Dam Road or at another agreed upon site. Both players or teams must agree on an alternative site. In case of rain, or other delays, matches will be played during the week at the tennis center or at a designated site. All Finals are scheduled to take place at the Fairfield Tennis Center.
7. BALLS: Each player/team must bring a new unopened (regular duty) can of tennis balls for their first match. The winners keep the unopened can to be used in their next match. Balls will be supplied for all final matches.
8. DEFAULTS: There is a fifteen (15) minute default rule. If a finalist is defaulted, a defeated semi-finalist, if they choose, may play the final.
9. SCORING: Match play will follow USTA rules and guidelines. Scoring will be determined by the tournament committee.
10. SEEDING: Information supplied on the entry forms such as USTA levels and past year’s results will be a factor in the Tennis Tournament Committee’s decisions as to the possibility of being seeded.
