5/16/2023 - Bat Boxes at Hoyden's and Lake Mohegan
Last week, the Conservation Department installed additional bat boxes on field edges at both the Hoyden's Hill and Lake Mohegan open spaces. There are existing boxes on various open spaces due for replacement as well. Bats are an important part of our ecosystem, can consume over 1,000 insects per night and should not be feared or misunderstood. Many of the bat species found in Connecticut are listed as endangered or of special concern. Additional information on Connecticut bats can be found HERE.
