9/8/2022 - Ailanthus Removal

UPDATE:

Earlier this summer, the Conservation Department stepped up removal of invasive Ailanthus trees growing on open space in efforts to combat the invasive spotted lanternfly.  The Department is collaborating with the U.S. Forest Service, the Connecticut Agricultural Experimental Station and the Town Tree Warden to remove Ailanthus (and the SLF) from both open space and right-of-ways.  When necessary, tree contractors such as Asplundh are utilized for more difficult tree work.
