1/26/2015 - Updated Storm Information as of 6:00 PM, January26

First Selectman Mike Tetreau announced the following Emergency Message from the Town of Fairfield:

We are asking everyone to stay off of the roads after 6:00 PM and please park off the roads if possible.

Fairfield will be opening an emergency shelter at 6:00 PM today. The shelter will remain open for the duration of this event. If you plan on relocating to the shelter, located at Fairfield Ludlowe High School, please contact the Emergency Communication Center at 203-254-4800.

United Illuminating is projecting the possibility of up to 10 % of its customers may suffer a loss of power during this storm event.  Any resident who experiences a power outage is urged to notify United Illuminating directly at 1-800-722-5584. Power restoration will not be possible while sustained wind speeds are above 35 MPH.

Currently, the coastal flood watch has been downgraded to a flood advisory. Residents in known flooding areas should still consider moving their vehicles to higher ground.

With large snow drifts expected, it is important to ensure furnace vents are clear and unobstructed. In addition, ensure the Carbon Monoxide detectors are in working order.

Please consider looking in on your elderly neighbors to make sure they are doing OK.

Please stay home and stay safe until the winds and the storm have passed.
