8/12/2014 - Town of Fairfield Seeks Residents for Various Boards and Commission Openings

First Selectman Mike Tetreau is pleased to announce that the Town of Fairfield is seeking Fairfield residents who are interested in being considered to serve as volunteers on various new and existing Boards and Commissions. Due to political party balance requirements, as specified in the Town Charter, some positions have party restrictions.

First Selectman Tetreau said, “Fairfield is fortunate to have a high caliber of residents who volunteer on dozens and dozens of town boards and commissions. These dedicated residents, both past and present, not only serve as the backbone to our community, but help our Town run smoothly because of their expertise, dedication and hard work. I look forward to more residents getting involved!”

Residents interested in being considered as a candidate for any one of the following new or existing positions should e-mail a copy of their resume and a completed Boards and Commissions Questionnaire Form (available on the Town website at www.fairfieldct.org/getaform) to firstselectmanffld@town.fairfield.ct.us. Please contact Kathleen Griffin in the First Selectman’s with any questions at 203-256-3031 or kgriffin@town.fairfield.ct.us.

NEW COMMITTEES: The Town is seeking volunteer residents to serve on two new committees - a permanent Bicycle and Pedestrian Committee and, pending RTM approval, a FairTV Commission.

Bicycle and Pedestrian Committee (Appointed by Board of Selectmen)
The Board of Selectmen is looking for nine members to serve on a permanent Bicycle and Pedestrian Committee.

This new permanent Committee will allow the Town to have a standing body to monitor and advocate the implementation of Fairfield’s Bicycle and Pedestrian Master Plan (2013). The Committee will work with various public, private, academic, and non-profit institutions to help build a safer and more enjoyable walking and bicycling environment for all residents and visitors.

The meeting date and time of the Committee will be determined once the Committee is formed. For more information on the temporary Bicycle and Pedestrian Plan Advisory Committee that created the Master Plan, as well as to view a copy of the Master Plan, please go to http://www.fairfieldct.org/bike.

FairTV Commission (Appointing Body To Be Determined)
Pending adoption of legislation by the RTM, the Town will also be forming a FairTV Commission later in the fall. The Board of Selectmen is looking for residents interested in being considered for this new Commission. The primary responsibility of the FairTV Commission will be oversight of the development and operation of educational and government access television programming in Fairfield. For more information on the current temporary FairTV Operational Committee, please go to http://www.fairfieldct.org/fairtv.
