Dogs six months of age or older must be licensed by July 1st each year. Licenses may be purchased by mail or at the Town Clerk’s Office, Monday – Friday, 8:30 AM to 4 PM beginning June 1st. A current rabies certificate is required.
The fee for a spayed or neutered dog is $8.00. If the dog has not been “fixed”, the fee is $19.00. The first time a dog is licensed, a certificate of spaying or neutering must be presented to qualify for the lower fee. Beginning July 1st, a $1.00 per month penalty is added to the licensing fee.
To apply for the license by mail, send the required certificates to Betsy P. Browne, Town Clerk, 611 Old Post Road, Fairfield CT 06824, along with a stamped, self-addressed envelope.
