10/11/2016 - Solarize Fairfield to Continue Through October 31-Learn More at Oct. 25 Workshop

First Selectman Mike Tetreau reminds residents that Solarize Fairfield, the town- and state-sponsored program designed to introduce homeowners to the benefits of solar installation, has been extended through October 31, 2016.  Residents can learn more about this program by attending an upcoming free informational workshop:

Tuesday, October 25, 2016, 7 pm to 8:30 pm
Fairfield Museum and History Center, 370 Beach Road

This workshop is being offered as part of the Fairfield Museum and History Center’s “Rising Tides” exhibit, examining the coastal resilience of Fairfield and how climate change presents new challenges for the future. For more information on the exhibit, please visit http://www.fairfieldhistory.org/rising-tides/.

In addition to the workshop which residents don’t need to sign up for in advance, those interested in solar may sign up to get a no-cost evaluation to see if their home is good for solar at www.solarizect.com/Fairfield.

First Selectman Tetreau said, “I appreciate the efforts of the town’s volunteer Clean Energy Task Force which is helping Fairfield continue to be an energy efficient community. I encourage residents to attend this workshop to learn how to use solar to take better control of energy costs and help safeguard our environment.”

Over the initial 18-week Solarize program, which began last March, 336 Fairfield residents expressed interest in going solar. The set, discounted price for a home installation was originally offered only through July 28, 2016. However, given the overwhelming interest in the program, the Town of Fairfield Clean Energy Task Force elected to continue the campaign through October 31, 2016 so that people who might have missed the original deadline can still go solar at the discounted rate.

Solarize Fairfield is part of Solarize Connecticut -- the ground-breaking residential solar program spearheaded by Connecticut’s Green Bank through a partnership with SmartPower. Solarize Connecticut has helped thousands of residents save money on energy bills through solar. Solarize Fairfield is a coordinated effort across the community, supported by the Town of Fairfield.
