First Selectman Mike Tetreau reminds residents and visitors alike that TownVibe and Fairfield Magazine are counting down the days to its Culinary Event of the Year—Taste of Fairfield—on Sunday, October 9, 2016, from 1 pm to 5 pm, in the outdoor tented patio area of Southport’s Delamar Hotel. The event is the precursor to Fairfield’s Fifth Annual Restaurant Week which is being held from October 16 to October 22 and includes almost 40 restaurants.
“The Delamars are at the heart of Fairfield County and home to many wonderful events. Our beautiful courtyards provide perfect locations for people to come together. We are thrilled to be hosting the Taste of Fairfield and look forward to welcoming the community to enjoy the variety of cuisine Fairfield County offers,” says Charles Mallory, Founder and CEO of The Greenwich Hospitality group.
Foodies and other fun-loving folk can enjoy tastes and sips from more than 30 restaurants, businesses, and specialty markets from the Fairfield area, all in the spacious courtyard of the Delamar and Artisan Restaurant. In addition to fine cuisine, craft cocktails, artisanal wine, craft beer, and sweets, there will be live music provided by two popular local bands, Otis and the Hurricanes, and the Mill River Band. “Good things happen when people connect over good food,” says TownVibe publisher Geoffrey Morris.
The restaurant list is still growing, but to date includes Artisan, Aspetuck Brew Lab, Asylum Distillery, B.Good, Brick & Wood, The Cakebox, The Chelsea, Crave, Donut Crazy, Fairfield Cheese Company, Freshii Fairfield, Flipside Burger Bar, Geronimo Tequila Bar, Jackson Family Wines, J House, Little Goose, The Little Pub, NOM-EEZ, Old Post Tavern, Mecha Noodle Bar, Red Bee Honey, Rive Bistro, Riverside Baking Company, Sono Baking Company, Shearwater Coffee Roasters, Sport Hill Farm, Sweet & Simple Bake Shop, Taberna Tapas, Taco Loco, Toto, and The Whelk.
“A Chance to Win” prize giveaway will be held to benefit Operation Hope, and all guests are encouraged to bring non-perishable items to donate to Operation Hope. FUSION: a VIP lounge by Black Rock Galleries will have special entertainment and servers. Other sponsors include Balducci’s, Land Rover of Milford, Sacred Heart University, Atria Senior Living, and Yumi Ecosolutions.
First Selectman Tetreau said, “The proliferation of events like Taste of Fairfield is a testament to our popular and vibrant restaurant scene. Taste of Fairfield is also a wonderful opportunity to support a community friend and neighbor-Operation Hope. Thanks to TownVibe, Fairfield Magazine and the Delamar Hotel, people can sample an array of delicious foods right in one location!”
