Fairfield Citizen Corps Council

The Fairfield Citizen Corps Council was established in 2004 as part of the federal initiative after September 11th to increase citizen involvement and emergency preparedness. It promotes the notion that all citizens need to take responsibility to prepare themselves, their families and their communities.

The Council consists of volunteers from various segments of the population and representatives from the Health Department, Police DepartmentFire Department. The mission of the group is to identify ways to better prepare the Fairfield community to respond to a major emergency or disaster, and thus increase our community resiliency.

One of the programs established through the efforts of the Fairfield Citizen Corps Council is the Fairfield Community Emergency Response Team – CERT. This volunteer group trains according to FEMA guidelines and provides a trained group of volunteers who are ready and able to, under the direction of FEMA, help in a major emergency or disaster.
